WHAT IS BHRT?
BHRT, or Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, is a type of therapy that uses chemically identical plant-derived hormones to restore and balance the hormones your body naturally produces. It’s most commonly used to treat symptoms of menopause, perimenopause, and other conditions related to hormonal imbalances. The hormones used in BHRT are designed to match the molecular structure of endogenous hormones (such as estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone).
It is also used to treat andropause in men. It is often seen as a more natural alternative to traditional hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which uses synthetic hormones or those derived from animals. The goal of BHRT is to restore hormonal balance and alleviate symptoms, such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, weight gain, and decreased libido.
