This laser is primarily known for treating vascular conditions, such as spider veins and broken capillaries. This laser can also treat benign pigmented lesions and sun-damaged areas. It treats the vascular lesions by administering a unique high-power green laser, which is absorbed very selectively by the abnormal vessels.
When we use the laser for broken capillaries, the laser is absorbed by an abnormal blood vessel. The light is converted into heat energy, which causes the vessel to collapse and seal shut. Eventually, the body absorbs the unwanted vessel, and the skin returns to its natural color. Pigmented lesions are erased similarly.
Excel treatments do not require topical numbing. Some patients feel a sting, similar to the snap of a rubber band against the skin, or a warming sensation during the procedure.
